Opening the tool lists every disk Windows can see, internal and external together, with the model and capacity beside each one. Nothing has to be configured first.
Switch disks without restarting
Pick any disk in the list and the panel switches to it. Two tabs sit above the panel: Disk Status for the general picture and SMART Information for the raw attribute table.
Numbers a failing drive gives away
SMART is a self reporting system built into the drive. The tool runs a live diagnostic and lays out every attribute the disk keeps, alongside its current temperature and an overall health verdict.

Reallocated sectors
The clearest warning sign
Bad sectors the drive has quietly swapped for spares. A count that climbs from zero is the strongest single signal a disk is wearing out.
Temperature
Heat shortens drive life
Drives are rated for a working range and sustained heat above it shortens their life. A disk running hot in a cramped enclosure will fail sooner than the same disk in open air. The figure updates live.

Waiting to be judged
Sectors the drive could not read cleanly and has not yet reallocated. A rising count alongside reallocated sectors is the combination that usually precedes real data loss.
